Description
Assisi sits on the edge of Mount Subasio and is characterised by the magnificent twin churches of St Francis. The gorgeous narrow streets of the town also contain the cathedrals of St Clare and St Ruffinus. Looking down on Assisi are the ruins of Rocca Maggior, while along the base of the painting are five of the city gates. The town is lit by a brilliant sunburst, which shines down in the Basilica di San Francesco.
